Hi there, I’m Phil.


Phillip Onishi teaches music at Lynnwood High School, Lynnwood, Washington. He handles the complete band program at that school.


Phil Onishi teaches at Lynnwood High School. He teaches Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Guitar, World Music and  Choir. Phil has been an active music educator in the Edmonds School District for nearly 30 years. He has previously taught high school and middle school choir, elementary general music, elementary strings, elementary choir, marimba ensemble and band. He is a Northwest native, and grew up in north Seattle. He has performed as both singer and percussionist in Japanese Taiko ensembles, Seattle Opera Chorus, and a variety of Seattle area choirs and instrumental ensembles. . He is a past WMEA Board Member serving as the WMEA Elementary Curriculum Officer in the later 2000's. Phil lives in Bothell with his lovely wife. They will celebrate their 32nd anniversary in 2021. She also works at Lynnwood High School, although not in the music department. They have two amazing boys, now in their twenties. Phil loves photography, cooking and is an active visual artist most often sculpting art from wire. 


Bachelor's Degree in Education

Phil graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor's degree in Music Education.

Master's Degree in Creative Arts

Phillip earned a Master's degree in Creative Arts from Lesley University.
